Creating an Add to Calendar Link for Webinar Invitations

Learn how to create an add to calendar links. Include them in event email invitations to increase attendance.

Save this event to your calendar:
Outlook | iCalendar | Google Calendar

Outlook and iCalendar 

The steps to do this include creating a calendar file and uploading it online, and link to it in your email invitation. Here's how:

From Outlook

  1. Create an appointment in Outlook
  2. Set the details for your event
  3. On the file menu in the top navigation bar, [save as] iCalendar format
  4. Upload your calendar file to an online file manager such as Dropbox
  5. Use the file link to hyperlink Outlook and iCalendar in your email invitation.

From iCalendar (Apple's default calendar application)

  1. Create an appointment in the calendar
  2. Set the details for your event and click [done] so save it.
  3. Drag the event to your desktop
  4. Upload your calendar file to an online file manager such as Dropbox.
  5. Use the file link to hyperlink Outlook and iCalendar in your email invitation

Google Calendar

The steps to do this include creating a public calendar event in a public Google Calendar, so that you can link to in your email invitation. Here is how:

From Google Calendar

  1. Create a public calendar
    • On the left side bar, click on the [drop down arrow] next to My Calendars
    • Click on [create a new calendar]
    • Fill calendar details and check the "Make this calendar public" box
  2. Create an appointment in the new public calendar
  3. Set the details for your event and click [save]
  4. Open to edit your new calendar event and at the bottom click on [publish event]
  5. In the popup window, click on the [Google Calendar] button 
  6. Use the new page's URL to hyperlink Google Calendar in your email invitation
